Celebrating our 118th year anniversary in 2025, Saint John's has been a vital and place of love and service in the greater Hollywood Florida area. Worship Services, Christian Education, Outreach and Pastoral Care are our foundation to become "fishers of men". We are very proud of our history and look with joy and optimism into our future. We strive to do God's work, we are grateful for His blessings and we share our blessings with others.
2024 MEDICAL MISSION to the Dominican Republic
4Our Parish is excited to announce our support for a team of 12 members, including our priest who will be traveling to the Dominican Republic this October for the 2024 Medical Mission to la barquita, Santo Domingo. Our Priest Fr. Harry has taken part in these mission trips for over a decade.
While there, a medical team runs a week long clinic in a local Dominican Episcopal Parish. This clinic offers much needed help to a community without access to the most basic of medical care. This year we will also spend a day of service at Hogar Episcopal Obispo Isaac, the Bishop Isaac home for the elderly in Boca Chica. All of our excess medicines and supplies after our medical clinic will be brought to the home for their use.
As we expand on this work to help others, we are continually seeing people to help become part of the team; Doctors, Nurses and Translators who are fluent in Spanish. This is a tremendously rewarding ministry and you are welcome to ask us about it!
In addition to this yearly visit, our parish has embarked in an effort to deepen our relationship with the host parish, la Iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo in the la Barquita barrio of Santo Domingo. Our hope is to assist their growing Episcopal School through scholarships for students and through donations for the parish.
